Simon Nicol is probably best known for his work with Fairport Convention. He was a founding member and remained with that group. In 1986 he released the solo album Before Your Time. It has since been reissued with another solo release, Consonant Please Carol, as the second half of the CD. The songs "The Deserter" and "Stuck It Right This Time" should be quite familiar to fans of Fairport Convention, as they are staples in the band's live set and appeared on their live album, Old-New-Borrowed-Blue. The music is quite tasteful and should please fans of Fairport Convention quite well.
