Like Donovan, Nick Drake had an inherent sense of jazz music, and he married it effortlessly with his own singer/songwriter leanings. An instant, bluesy melody is driven by major and minor seventh chord changes here in a wholly original style by Drake. The jazzy quality of the music is highlighted by the brilliant arrangement, which features a bluesy saxophone and elegant strings .
