Recorded live at the venerable Troubadour Club in Los Angeles in 1969, this version of "I Had a Talk With My Woman" is one of the most welcome additions to the fabulous anthology Morning Glory. A breezy, jazz-inflected ballad, it showcases Buckley's then-current fascination with Brazilian tempos and melodies. The lyrics are typical of Buckley's confessional style of the period, and they conveyed his romantic leanings with great style. Also, the ensemble performance of his small band (especially Lee Underwood's tasteful guitar work) is striking.
