Zumindest in meiner Erinnerung.

Waiting For Louise "Roadsongs For The Business Class" E=MC², 2010

Tuesday Morning in the sleepy town
I was on my way, walking round with my dog
She was standing by the grocery
And then she put her eyes on me
She said “Hi”, I said “Hey,
Are you feeling good?” – She said “I am O.K.”

She came back just the other day
She told me that she had to stay
for a while

She talked about where she had been
And all the places she had seen
She claimed that no one’s around no more
And all good people left for sure
And I just thought: how could that be?
This “no one” is including me

So I just grabbed my dog
And carried on with my own walk
And wished you all the best

It feels pretty funny to talk to a stranger
That looks like a lover from long time ago
But you better make peace with that ghost of your past
There is no point in that

A few weeks later in that smokey club
I saw her again, hangin’ ‘round with those boys
She never would appreciate
At least that’s what she always said
I tried a little bit more to catch her eye
But she would give it no reply

So I stopped looking at
And carried on with my own chat
And wished her all the best

It feels pretty funny to notice a stranger …
That looks like a lover from long time ago
But you better make peace with that ghost of your past
There is no point in that
